Ezra ran the busiest fruit stand in the Essex Street Market, but that didn't stop his daily visits to GREAT Grandpa Sol to trade crisp Granny Smith apples for the pair of eyeglasses he coveted. It took quite a few bushels for Ezra to pay for these classic, WWII era spectacles, but eventually he took care of his debt, while simultaneously proving that an apple a day does not, in all cases, keep the doctor away.

Joey Shavala, AKA the King of the Lower East Side, often made a spectacle revving his Harley down Mulberry Street on his way into the Shop. Borrowing his moniker, and his signature style, from the King of Rock and Roll, Joey was always flashin’ a pair of gold aviators and a combed back pompadour. With Joey’s rock star persona in mind, The SHAV was designed to turn heads on your way out the door. Elvis has left the building.

This frame is named after Sol's sister, Gladys Moscot, a wanderlust traveler who left New York's Lower East Side for a life of drinking Cuba Libres and smoking Cohibas in Havana. The frame is hot, sexy and fresh - feminine yet bold, with unique lines and curves that make a provocative statement that's still subtle with a come-hither look. Like a just barely there French accent, or a wisp of a hair that keeps falling across her face. Think Bridgette Bardot, Sophia Loren, or Kate Winslet.
