MOSCOT invites you to crossover into the World of MOSCOT. MOSCOT unveils 6 newclassiconic™ designs in a new campaign centered on the austere quirkiness and humble humor of the brand. The new Fall-Winter 2022 selection is a collection of frames that know no place, nor time, but that transcends cultures, peoples, and places. SHOP FALL 2022 COLLECTION Fashion meets humor in MOSCOT’s Fall-Winter 2022 Campaign, juxtaposing formal wear and ‘60s inspired eyewear with spiraling motifs on a black and white set. Drawing on quirky details and the visual perception of optical illusions, the campaign utilizes color, light, and pattern to speak to the new eye-catching designs. “New York’s fashion and style is a reflection and celebration of oneself,” shares Chief Design Officer and 5th Generation, Zack Moscot. “With this philosophy in mind, I was immediately brought back to the ethos of self-expression and counterculture in the sixties.” While beginning the design process of this new collection, 4th Generation Harvey Moscot would often send pictures of silhouettes featured in old movies and classic television shows, inspiring the designer to dig into physical and digital archives from decades past. “I took the shapes of the era combined with our heritage design and modern details (think Custom Made Tints™) and made a classically MOSCOT collection.” he adds.  The new collection features unique design details like the wrap-around frame front of The NUDNIK, the striped metal skiving on The SMENDRIK, and combination metal and acetate construction on The PITSEL. How to choose the best sunglasses for your face

on Aug 23 2022
They say eyes are the window to the soul, so if you’re going to cover them up with sunglasses,  it should at least be with a pair of sunglasses that represents who you are! There’s no denying the practical importance of sunglasses. All you have to do is forget your pair on a bright day to remember just how beneficial they are. That said, sunglasses are so much more than just a practical accessory. Your sunglasses are a small representation of you—a fashion statement you’re making to world almost every single day. That’s why it’s so important to find the perfect pair of sunglasses. There are several factors that need to be considered when selecting the ideal sunglasses for your face. These include face size, face shape, color, and style, among several others. Take a look at the guide below to help you figure out the best sunglasses for your face!   Sunglasses Size One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a pair of sunglasses is the size. Wearing sunglasses that are too wide or too narrow can give the illusion that your eyes are too close together or too far apart, respectively. At MOSCOT, we offer sunglasses in three sizes—narrow, average, and wide—so that everyone can find the pair that best fits their face and head size.   Narrow Our narrow sunglasses range from 42mm to 45mm wide. They are ideal for those with slimmer faces.   Average Our average sunglasses range from 46mm to 49mm wide. This is the size most MOSCOT customers choose. If you are unsure about the size of your face, this size may be the best selection for you.   Wide Our wide sunglasses are 50mm wide. These sunglasses are perfect for those with broader faces.   Choosing Sunglasses Based on Face Shape     Once you’ve determined the ideal sunglasses for the size of your face, the next thing you need to consider is the shape of your face. Faces can be oval, square, round, or heart shaped. Here at MOSCOT, we offer glasses that fit each of these. Heart Heart-shaped faces have foreheads and jawlines of similar width, where the cheekbones taper into the jawline and a narrow chin. Sunglasses for heart-shaped faces can be found here! Oval Oval faces have a forehead and jawline that are similar in width, with both a rounded jaw and rounded chin. Explore our selection of sunglasses for oval faces here. Square Square faces are defined by a forehead and jawline of similar widths, with wide cheekbones and a notably square chin. Sunglasses for square-shaped faces can be found here! Round Round faces have foreheads and jawlines of equal width, with wide cheekbones and rounded chins. Check out our range of sunglasses for round faces here.   Choosing Sunglasses Based on Skin Tone       When it comes to selecting the color of your sunglasses—both frame and lenses—you should consider the tone of your skin. Skin tones can be either cool or warm, and figuring out which type of skin tone you have is key to selecting the right sunglasses for you.  Cool Skin Tones A cool skin tone can be determined if you get sunburnt easily; turn red instead of tan; have blue, green, or gray eyes; or if the veins under your skin appear as blue. People with a cool skin tone should try sunglass frames that are black, dark tortoise shell, green, purple, blue, or silver. Lens colors to consider include darker shades, blue, and silver.   Warm Skin Tones A warm skin tone is defined by tanned skin, brown or hazel eyes, and veins that appear green in color under the skin. People with warm skin tones should consider sunglass frames that are brown, lighter tortoise shell, beige, red, orange, gold, or yellow. Lens colors ideal for warm skin tones include bright colors that pop.    Sunglasses Style As we mentioned above, sunglasses should reflect your personal style as well as the statement you want to make to the world! We offer a variety of sunglasses designs to suit people of all different styles. These include downtown vibes, the bold look, and understated sunglasses.   Downtown Downtown vibe sunglasses include frames that are artistic and creative looking, the perfect selection for those looking to capture that Lower East side look!   Bold Looking for something with a little more pop? Our Bold Sunglasses are the perfect accessory for those who want their frames to scream!   Understated Alternatively, if you prefer your frames to whisper instead of scream, the Understated Look is perfect for you!     Nose Bridge Fits Finally, the last thing you need consider when selecting the perfect pair of sunglasses is how high up that they will fit on your face. We offer a selection of nose pads to meet the needs of people with nose bridges of all sizes so that your sunglasses don’t sit too high or low on your face. These include acetate, step-down, and metal.   Acetate Nose Pads Acetate nose pads offer a comfortable, classic fit for those who have average sized nose bridges.   Step-Down Nose Pads Our step-down nose pads are similar to our acetate nose pads in appearance. However, they offer additional support for those who have less prominent nose bridges.   Metal Nose Pads Our metal nose pads are made from silicone, offering a soft, flexible fit. Metal nose pads are ideal for those needing additional support for less prominent nose bridges.   Trying on Sunglasses Online As you can see, a lot of factors need to be considered when selecting the perfect pair of sunglasses for your face. That’s why it’s so important to try on several pairs of sunglasses before you make your selection. Unfortunately, not everyone has time to head into a brick-and-mortar MOSCOT shop, which is why we offer a virtual try-on option for our most popular frames. Head over to our virtual studio to see how you look in your favorite pair of sunglasses right from the comfort of your own home! This is the ideal way to shop for those wanting to buy sunglasses online. Choosing the perfect pair of sunglasses can take some time. Style of the Season: Aviator Sunglasses

on Jun 30 2022
Given the recent box office success of Top Gun: Maverick, we’re rocking “pilot chic” this summer with classic, yet versatile MOSCOT aviator sunglasses! Although this flick might have just come out, the aviator sunglass design has withstood the test of time. Throughout the years, MOSCOT has created heritage eyewear designs for all types of aviator fans.   There’s a reason this easy to wear, casual, good-looking frame’s popularity has not just endured, but soared over the decades - it makes everyone look hot. Really hot. We promise. The JACOB SUN perfectly recreates the Air Force Pilot Sunglass first made popular in the 1940s. This traditional shape sits comfortably on the face with silicone nose pads.  The ZULU SUN, named after our strapping and unconventional uncle–Uncle Zulu Pushkin (yes, that’s his real name)–recreates the ubiquitous pilot look with a slight squared edge twist.  For the Seventies Enthusiasts The square aviator with a double-bar bridge and the addition of gradient fashion tints and shades became synonymous with 1970’s eyewear fashion. The SHTARKER GOLD with Broadway Blue Fade Custom Made Tint™ encapsulates the funky fashion of the ‘70s. Plus, all Custom Made Tint™ lenses are tinted by hand in NYC!  The BJORN is made from acetate and comes in a translucent color, to fill out your face without covering it up. Full frontal, indeed. For the Wildcards For over a century, MOSCOT has been at the forefront of aviator innovation bringing you all the newest shapes and sizes. Looking to mix up? We’ve got some wildcard styles just for you.  The LAZER SUN is a modern interpretation of a vintage glacier glass style. Designed to seamlessly mix outdoor adventure with downtown style, this frame’s classic construction and acetate sweat bar will have you ready to swing into gear on your next big endeavor.  The SHONDA is for those who love big glasses to match their even bigger personalities. (Just kidding!) This unique frame brings aviators to a new light with its combination of metal eye-wire and an acetate top bar. Not sure which aviator style is right for you? Shop ‘em all! MOSCOT x SATURDAYS NYC | The TOMO SUN

on May 23 2022
MOSCOT teams up with fellow New York City native apparel and lifestyle brand, Saturdays NYC, for an exclusive summer sunglass style. Inspired by the shared deep-rooted New York City heritage and active urban lifestyle, The MOSCOT x Saturdays NYC collaboration features one signature sunglass model called The TOMO. “‘TOMO’, which means ‘friend’ in Japanese, is a name that perfectly reflects our friendship as brands, and of our patrons that appreciate what MOSCOT & Saturdays offers,” shares Chief Design Officer and 5th Generation, Zack Moscot. He adds, “the partnership was sparked as a celebration of New York centric brands representing active city culture. This was a natural fit given the similarities of the brands and our customers who appreciate our craftsmanship, heritage, and true New York narrative.” Staying true to MOSCOT’s heritage design, The TOMO SUN is made from acetate with a wrap-around frame front featuring three dot rivets, unique beveling and no exposed hardware, paddle temples with grips, a saddle bridge, and real seven-barrel hinges. With a subtle “wrap” used for sports and to protect from the sun and wind, the new frame can be categorized as a face-form style. Authentically capturing the textures, details, sounds and style of true urban escapism, the campaign accompanies model, and long-time friend of both brands, Danny DiMauro out to New York’s Rockaway Beach for an early morning surf session. Rounding out the collaborative partnership, The MOSCOT x Saturdays Surf Spotify playlist provides breezy beats for an endless summer chosen by members of each team. The TOMO SUN will release as a limited 150-unit batch exclusively available online and in-stores at MOSCOT and Saturdays NYC. The specialty frame is made in two Classiconic™ MOSCOT colors: Shiny Black with G15 Glass Lenses and Dark Havana with Chestnut Fade Tinted Lenses and comes with a custom co-branded chamois. REAL GLASS LENSES

on May 12 2022
When purchasing a new pair of sunglasses there are several factors to consider relating to fit and style, including sunglass shape, size, and lens material. While now less common due to weight and expense, there are various advantages of real glass lenses to keep in mind. Glass lenses are a classic choice and provide optimal visual clarity, glare reduction, and little to no distortion. Mineral glass lenses are also scratch resistant and provide long-lasting color as the tint is embedded in the crystal and does not change or oxidize over time like a plastic tint can. Regular plastic eyeglass lenses block most UV light, but mineral glass lenses provide an added boost of UV protection. MOSCOT Original Sunglasses feature authentic mineral glass lenses from the good ol’ days retaining the authenticity of the original frame styles that precisely duplicate the true old-school colors first fabricated by the Company in the 1940s. MOSCOT offers six original glass lens colors: G15, Calibar Green, Cosmitan Brown, Grey, Blue, and Yellow in many MOSCOT Original frames.  Fun fact: Glass lenses were the first lenses used… Good ole Ben Franklin fused two pieces of glass together to make the first bifocals! “Back in the day, my Dad (Joel, 3G) and his father (Sol, 2G) used to only grind glass prescription lenses, which needed to be treated to make them shatterproof. One of my earliest memories working with my family was placing these glass lenses into the case hardening machine, which was a special oven that heated the glass lenses to extreme temperatures. After all these years, we’re still doing it the old-school way!” – Dr. Harvey Moscot, 4th Generation Shop real glass lenses now!

Clip-On Glasses Buying Guide If you wear prescription eyeglasses, you know how much of a hassle it can be to switch back and forth between your everyday eyeglass frames and sunglasses throughout the day. Not only is it a hassle, taking up precious time, but it also requires you to purchase prescription sunglasses in addition to your eyeglasses. Take the hassle out of your life with MOSCOT Clip-On glasses. Simply attach the Clip-On lenses to your everyday frames and transform your eyeglasses into sunglasses or blue-light glasses with ease. In this Clip-On glasses buying guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about Clip-On glasses, including which size to buy, the best styles, and how to attach them to your frames. SHOP CLIP-ON GLASSES Clip-On Glasses Size Chart Choosing the correct size for your Clip-On glasses is essential to ensuring they fit securely to your MOSCOT frames. Every set of our Clip-On glasses corresponds with a style and size of our most popular MOSCOT Originals frames, so that you can be sure your Clip-Ons will fit snugly to your eyeglasses. For example, if you wear eyeglasses with our LEMTOSH frames, then the CLIPTOSH Clip-On glasses are for you. Simply select the lens color you desire and be sure the size corresponds with your frames, whether they’re 44 (Narrow), 46 (Average), 49 (Wide), or 52 (Extra Wide). Fun fact: Some of our clips are cross compatible. See the full list below!   How to Choose Clip-On Glasses Choosing the right pair of Clip-Ons is easy, as all our Clip-On glasses are made to correspond with our most popular frame styles. All you have to do is select the Clip-On glasses that pair with your MOSCOT frame style and size. Once you’ve picked the corresponding style and size, you can choose from a range of lens colors to find one that best fits your style. We also offer Clip-Ons in a selection of shade or blue-light lenses to meet a variety of needs. Blue light Clip-On Glasses Ease the strain on your eyes by attaching Clip-Ons with blue light filters to your eyeglasses. Extended exposure to blue light from devices such as computers and smartphones can add unwanted strain to your eyes. With blue light Clip-On glasses, you can reduce the strain on your eyes by attaching them to your everyday eyeglasses while using devices that emit blue light.  Round Clip-On Sunglasses Our Clip-Ons come in variety of styles and can be affixed to a range of our most popular frames. For round Clip-On sunglasses, explore our MILTZEN and ZEV frame Clip-On options. We also offer Clip-Ons for other MOSCOT Originals frame styles. Simply choose the Clip-On style that corresponds with your MOSCOT eyeglasses. Universal Clip-On Sunglasses All of our Clip-Ons are designed to fit specifically with one of our MOSCOT Originals frame styles. Each of our Clip-On lenses is easy to attach and detach from your MOSCOT frames as needed. Simply choose the Clip-On that pairs with your MOSCOT eyeglasses for a perfect fit every time. Clip-On Glasses vs. Transition Lenses If you’re looking for an easy way to switch between eyeglasses and sunglasses without switching frames, you have several options. These include Transition lenses and Clip-On glasses. Transition lenses work by adapting to the light, becoming more and less shaded depending on the surroundings. While this makes adjusting the tint of the glasses relatively easy, it also means the wearer has no control over the tint of their lenses at any given time. Clip-On glasses, on the other hand, can be attached and removed from your MOSCOT eyeglass’s frames as needed. Clip-Ons come in variety of tint colors, including CUSTOM MADE TINTS™ and can be made with blue-light lenses to ease the strain on your eyes while working at the computer. How to Attach Clip-On Glasses Attaching Clip-On glasses is easy. Simply pop them on to your frames as desired, and since each of our Clip-Ons is made to fit specifically with our frames, you don’t have to worry about them coming loose or scratching your lenses. Where to Buy Clip-On Glasses To find the perfect set of Clip-On glasses for your MOSCOT eyeglasses, check out our complete selection here. Prescription Types: Single Vision vs. Progressive

on Jan 12 2022
When ordering prescription glasses online or in Shop the first step (after selecting your frame!) is to choose your lenses based on your prescription strength and focal type. What is the difference between single vision and progressive lenses in prescription glasses? Let us explain—we’ve been making prescription glasses for over 100 years! Single Vision Single Vision lenses are used for one purpose only, they provide one focal range for either distance, reading, or computer wear. When someone is nearsighted (known as myopia), that means they have near sight, naturally, and they need the lenses for seeing far. MOSCOT also provides Single Vision lenses for reading. When an individual requires lenses just for reading, they are considered farsighted (called hyperopia). These two categories, distance and reading, or nearsighted and farsighted, are types of Single Vision prescription glasses. If you don’t know whether you’re nearsighted or farsighted, your prescription can answer that for you! A minus sign in the spherical error (or SPH) column on the prescription means you’re nearsighted, and closer objects appear more clearly. If you see plus signs followed by numbers, you’re farsighted. To find out how extensive your nearsightedness or farsightedness is, move to the numbers next to the plus or minus signs. Some people need glasses for seeing far, some for seeing close, and some need correction for both. If your prescription includes a value in the ADD category, your doctor is recommending a multi-focal, or Progressive lens. Progressive Progressive lenses accommodate for multiple depths or ranges of vision within the lens into one pair of glasses. These lenses correct near, intermediate, and distance fields of vision in one lens so you don’t have to switch between multiple pairs of prescription glasses. A Progressive lens provides stellar distance vision as you look straight ahead, but as you glance downward towards the bottom of the lens, you’ll find that your vision is gradually magnified to assist with near tasks. In addition, you will find a sweet spot in between these two zones that will aid in either computer work or glancing at a dashboard while driving. Patients new to Progressive Lenses may take some time getting used to seeing through these lenses for the first week, as it takes at least a few days for your eyes and brain to communicate and get comfortable. We guarantee your visual comfort and overall satisfaction with our new digital progressive lens technology. SHOP ALL OPTICAL Our MOSCOT Family Members can assist you along the way. Lens Types: Standard vs. Advanced vs. Premier

on Jan 12 2022
Need a hand in customizing your prescription glasses? We’re here to help! Once you’ve selected either Single Vision or Progressive lenses, the next step is choosing an appropriate material and lens enhancement(s) that best suit your lifestyle. Single Vision Lens Types Standard MOSCOT’s Single Vision lenses are available in three different tiers. The first tier is called Standard Single Vision and is a standard uncoated plastic lens. Standard Single Vision lenses are most suitable for occasional usage, i.e., your frames spend the most time in their case. Advanced The second tier is called Advanced Single Vision. This lens is also made from standard plastic but includes an anti-reflective treatment which allows more light to penetrate the lens, instead of reflecting off it, providing clearer vision. This lens offers both aesthetic benefits, as well as a diminished halo effect from oncoming headlights when driving at night. We recommend Advanced Single Vision lenses when your frame spends at least half the day on your face. Premier Our top tier is the Premier Single Vision—and our most popular option. This lens type is made with a more impact resistant and lightweight material called polycarbonate. Premier Single Vision lenses have a premium anti-reflective treatment, preserving the lens, making it more scratch resistant. We believe in it so much that we include a one-year warranty for any scratches or scuffs that may arise. These lenses are recommended for when your frame lives on your face! Progressive Lens Types Advanced As with Single Vision lenses, there are different tiers of Progressive prescription lenses. The first Progressive lens we offer is called Advanced Progressives. This is our basic entry into Progressive lenses and is made with lightweight and durable polycarbonate, inclusive of a premium anti-reflective coating. The guaranteed warranty is for two years. Premier Premier Progressive lenses are similar to the Advanced Progressives in material and premium anti-reflection but are also digitally surfaced to widen your fields of vision (or simply minimize peripheral blur). MOSCOT Premier Progressive is an all-purpose, digital design with a perfect balance between distance and near fields of vision. Still have questions on ordering your prescription glasses online? Styled back to the ‘70s with influences of today’s modern flare, the campaign serves as a time capsule to the past and a ticket to the future. “Just as the small nuances of our own environments shape our lives, the intricate details serve as the foundation of the collection,” shares Chief Design Officer and 5th Generation Zack Moscot. He adds, “whether it’s through the delicate striped metal texturing on our new aviator — The SHAV, or the subtle yet dramatic cat-eye curves of The FRAYDA, these new frames share a unique balance between modern details and heritage design.” Set in an exaggerated and kitschy rendition of Grandma Sylvia Moscot’s living room, the campaign was shot in the iconic Orchard Street gallery that has served the loyal and eclectic MOSCOT community for decades. The transformative space has taken form as a stage for up-and-coming musicians, a hangout for legendary Lower East Siders, and features a salon wall of past and present icons who don MOSCOT frames. Have questions about polarized lenses? We’re here to help! What are Polarized Lenses, and why do you need them? MOSCOT polarized sunglasses block harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and are particularly useful for eliminating glare. Glare can interfere with depth perception and color contrast, making outdoor activities such as hiking or snow and water sports more difficult or uncomfortable. How do polarized lenses reduce harsh glare? Our Polarized Sunglass lenses block horizontal light waves, known as reflections, while allowing the vertical waves, or direct light, to pass through.  By removing the horizontally reflected light, the polarization effect of our lenses effectively eliminates glare while enhancing color, depth, and clarity. When should you wear polarized sunglasses? While polarized sunglasses can be worn at any time, they are especially beneficial when engaging in outdoor activities near reflective surfaces such as water or snow. They’re also great while driving in bright sunshine!

Shop now for new custom made glasses! Fun fact! 4th Generation Harvey Moscot’s first job was tinting in the lab! With 20 unique tint options to choose from, tinted lens preferences may change depending on style, fashion, or purpose. Grey and Green tinted glasses (American Grey Fade, Calibar Green, G-15) are considered neutral as they allow the eyes to perceive color in their truest form. Brown lenses (Cosmitan Brown) provide contrast and minimize eyestrain. Yellow (Mellow Yellow) is ideal for object definition, while Amber may make distant objects appear more distinct—especially in snow or haze. Vermillion lenses (Big Apple Fade, Cabernet) provide color perception and contrast in low light. Try a unique look with rose tinted glasses, yellow tinted glasses, or blue tinted glasses!  A look back on the history of tinted lenses: The first tinted glasses appeared in the 1800s on protective steel spectacles with Viridian Green Glass lenses to correct various vision impairments. They were primarily designed to prevent bright sunlight and high-energy visible light from damaging or discomforting the eyes. By 1904, American Automobile Goggles grew in popularity as tinted sunglasses as necessary protective accessories to keep riders comfortable, safe, and clean. The 1930s brought on a new wave of American Glass Sunglasses with Calibar Green lenses in the forefront of style and technology. In the 1940s, lenses in red, green, blue, or yellow tints were matched with frames to compliment skin and hair colors, and in some cases, were thought to correct mood or medical illnesses. By the 1960s, a variety of lens colors grew in popularity, in MOSCOT shades like Big Apple Fade, Mellow Yellow, Denim Blue, Limelight, and American Grey Fade. In addition to making a fashion statement, tinted shades in the ‘80s were chosen to highlight eyes or cheeks and soften surface reflections. Fashion tints are still quite popular today in a wide range of colorways, styles, and functions, and can be seen on MOSCOT fans from Cristiano Ronaldo in The LEMTOSH with Purple Nurple Custom Made Tint™ to Elton John in a rose pink tinted BUPKES! MOSCOT is eager to help you find what color tint is best for glasses. Get your tint on by visiting MOSCOT.COM or your nearest MOSCOT Shop! Shop Custom Made Tints™ to personalize your favorite frame.
