When purchasing a new pair of sunglasses there are several factors to consider relating to fit and style, including sunglass shape, size, and lens material. While now less common due to weight and expense, there are various advantages of real glass lenses to keep in mind. Glass lenses are a classic choice and provide optimal visual clarity, glare reduction, and little to no distortion. Mineral glass lenses are also scratch resistant and provide long-lasting color as the tint is embedded in the crystal and does not change or oxidize over time like a plastic tint can. Regular plastic eyeglass lenses block most UV light, but mineral glass lenses provide an added boost of UV protection.
