Antonio was a MOSCOT porter around Sol’s time in the Shop. As reliable as he was tough (read: very), he was surprisingly refined when it came to repairing the delicate equipment behind the counter. Sol's lawyer, Fritz, was an eccentric guy, built with many layers. While he was unyielding and tough when dispensing legal advice, he didn't have a bad side. Designed with an air of strength to make a bold statement, FRITZ is the frame, no matter how you look at it.

Mr. Kelly was 4th Generation Harvey's grade school science teacher. He was known for two things: his signature look (a short-sleeved button-down shirt, thin black tie, and NASA-esque glasses); and the show-and-tell of marine life he always brought into class. Between scribbling song lyrics in the pages of his notebook and acing his exams, Harvey loved learning about sea life. An ode to Mr. Kelly and his iconic style, be sure to take note of this DUDEL!

Hyman's son-in-law Hal (aka, his "aidim") was a nice enough cat, but his work ethic was, well...non-existent. So after a brief stint behind the Orchard Street counter, Hyman encouraged Hal to pursue "other opportunities." Hyman felt guilty. Hal was never happier. We named this frame to honor all The AIDIMs out there, and the father-in-laws who've sent them on their way.

Inspired by Sol's 1957 trip to Cuba, The MISH has all the glitz of the late-night party scene in Havana, with all the glamour of the Upper West Side of Manhattan. MISH runs the town from day to night, and goes perfectly with a guayabera and a Cuba Libre.

Named for our strapping and unconventional uncle, Uncle Zulu Pushkin (yes, that's his real name), who was a runner for a famed New York bookie back in the day. The ZULU recreates the ubiquitous American Optical Pilot frame made famous in the 1940s. This square-shaped frame is strong and sturdy so it can really take a beating urban or otherwise, if you catch our drift.

Ezra ran the busiest fruit stand in the Essex Street Market, but that didn't stop his daily visits to GREAT Grandpa Sol to trade crisp Granny Smith apples for the pair of eyeglasses he coveted. It took quite a few bushels for Ezra to pay for these classic, WWII era spectacles, but eventually he took care of his debt, while simultaneously proving that an apple a day does not, in all cases, keep the doctor away.

We named The BREN for our beloved, longtime employee, Ida Wax, who worked for 40 years at MOSCOT from the 1960s through 1990s. A "Bren" incarnate, she was a firecracker of a woman charismatic and full of energy and an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved her.

Orchard Street resident and neighbor to Great great Grandpa Hyman, Walter Greenbaum was what we used to call a real "kibitser"- eccentric - fellow who liked to talk...all the time...to anyone within earshot...and even to those who weren't listening. Fortunately for Walter, Hyman was all ears. In honor of our late kibitser, we give you, The KIBITS.

Like The LEMTOSH, this "brother" from another mother, The BRUDE, shares its same round-square shape, and easy good looks, but is made from a metal acetate combination, and is rivet-free. First seen on brudes, dudes, and sisters in the 1960s, The BRUDE is subtly striking, and features detailed engraving on its bridge and temples.

Close friends and family nicknamed Grandpa Sol, Zilch, which we are absolutely certain they meant ironically since Grandpa Sol was anything and everything but zero, nada, or zip. Or they were mean. Either way, we love this new frame and Grandpa Sol. Made from acetate with column rivets on the front and temples, a key hole bridge, and a real five barrel hinge.
