If these chairs could talk, oh my...the stories they could tell! Grandpa Sol purchased these wooden peg and groove chairs (no nails!) in 1938 and they've been a part of our family ever since! Originally purchased for our first shop on Rivington Street, the chairs moved with us to our Orchard Street shop in 1950, and have been a rest spot for our beloved fans ever since! Two have even made the trip across the pond for MOSCOT events in Europe. They flew first class of course.

One of the top optical shops in Milano, Ottica Bergomi, have done MOSCOT proud with their spectacular window display! Just like MOSCOT, Ottica Bergomi has a long, colorful history that began in Venice in 1948 with Nonno Agostino (like our Grandpa Sol). Fast forward to the present and Ottica Bergomi has stores all across Italy and sells to some of the most fashionable people in the world! Congratulazioni!

Praised by both music magazines and bloggers alike, MOSCOT Music was honored to have NYC artists Minerva Lions and pow wow! play at our Orchard Street shop this past Saturday, June 11th.

Following a performance the night before at Highline Ballroom, Minerva Lions brought their whimsical and psychedelic blues-rock set to The MOSCOT Gallery, playing songs from their forthcoming EP titled, Great Strides, Priestess & Queen.

Afterwards, pow wow!, took the stage with their brand of poppy garage rock tunes -- smiles and dancing included.

All in all, another great Saturday Session in the books!

        MOSCOT, 118 Orchard Street, 1980

      MOSCOT, 118 Orchard Street, 2011

Check out these incredible images taken by, photographer, Brian Rose, of the MOSCOT shop on Orchard Street in 1980 and again in 2011, from his book, Time and Space! Way back when in 1980, Ed Koch was the Mayor of NYC and MOSCOT had just one shop on the LES. Now in 2011, Michael Bloomberg is the Mayor and MOSCOT is a global lifestyle brand, sold at over 400 retailers worldwide.

It's amazing to see how much has changed in the past 30 years in NYC and at MOSCOT, and...how much has stayed the same! (we still see guys on skateboards and headphones in the LES daily!)
